Forrest Gump
I have watched Forrest Gump around 10 times during my childhood, but never in my adulthood. It was always about a dumb guy who would say stupid things and all he did was run, for child-me. It was really boring and I’d never finish the whole film because it was just a dumb film and there was nothing else on the other channels.
I always wondered how it received such good ratings on IMDB despite being such a silly, boring film. Last week, while stumbling across IMDB’s Top 250, again, I wondered why Forrest Gump had such an excellent rating, again.
I must watch it again and give it another chance. I must see what all the fuss is about.
I have not been amazed by a movie in a long, long time. Avatar wow’d me by its graphics, but never has a film given me such a variety of emotions since The Shawshank Redemption.
The child’s mind does not understand autism, which is why all this time I had been thinking it is a dumb film. I could not have been more wrong. It is a genius piece of work and it’s intriguing and funny to see the world from an autistic person’s point of view.
For 12 years I had been thinking wrong about this film but I am so glad to have watched it when I can finally understand it. It’s not a kid’s film by any means because you need to understand it to fully appreciate it.
It had me laughing out loud all the way through, with sadness in between. If you are reading this right now and haven’t watched Forrest Gump during your adulthood, I recommend you watch this as soon as you can.
