Soldiers are not my heroes.
The soldiers currently in Afghanistan and Iraq are not my heroes. Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily.
They are not fighting for my rights and liberties as some misinformed people claim. Them being in Iraq and Afghanistan makes no difference to my lifestyle or rights.
Unfortunately for them they are fighting a rich man’s war. We were told by the Bush administration that they are invading Afghanistan to find bin Laden, yet only several months after 9/11 Bush openly said he does not care where bin Laden is.
At one point the American army even had bin Laden cornered but the command to go in was denied. They clearly wanted to delay their stay. Now the army is fighting the Taliban who actually had nothing to do with 9/11. See how priorities change? That’s what lies do.
The Bush administration also told us they had found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. We all know that was not true. Another lie. Now the armies there are fighting normal people like you and I who just want them out of their country.
I would like nothing more than for our soldiers to come back home. I praise the good ones who are there peacekeeping but there have been too many deaths on all sides and it is just going nowhere. I used to think they have a duty to fix the problem they created but that never looks to be happening.
Come back home from fighting a meaningless war.
